  • String of subtropical islands
  • Beautiful Bazaruto Island
  • Bazaruto Archipelago National Park
  • Ecological masterpiece

The Bazaruto Archipelago lies to the south of the Quirimbas just 30 kilometres off the coast of Vilanculos in Inhambane Province. The Bazaruto Archipelago consists of five principles islands of which Bazaruto Island is the largest and probably most well known. The whole archipelago is part of the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park and is one of the largest marine parks in the Indian Ocean.

The Bazaruto Archipelago islands offer true tropical paradise escapes, with white sandy beaches and tall tropical palm trees offering a tranquil setting for pure relaxation. Fish and marine life team in abundance in the crystal clean waters, and over 240 bird species have been documented on Bazaruto Island. Enjoy superb diving and snorkelling along the magnificent coral reefs, and fishing enthusiasts can fish for big game fish such as marlin and sailfish.

The Bazaruto Archipelago's islands were formed hundreds of thousands years ago by sand deposits from the Limpopo River and various tectonic forces several hundred kilometres to the south. These movements caused small islands of sand covered with shells to form which over time, developed into the beautiful Archipelago we see today.
